A former chairman and CEO of defense contractor General Dynamics has sold his Lake Forest mansion for $4.8 million.
The sale price of the 13,200-square-foot home on Summerfield Drive is about 74% of the nearly $6.5 million that Nicholas and Eleanor Chabraja were asking when they put it on the market in June 2020.
The mansion is the 24th Chicago-area home to sell for $4 million or more so far in 2022. At the pace it’s going now, the upper end of the luxury market is keeping up with last year’s unprecedented speed, which ended with 101 sales at $4 million or more.
Nicholas Chabraja headed General Dynamics from 1997 until mid-2009. In 2010, he and his wife built the Lake Forest house, on about 2 acres, with an outdoor pool and a pair of two-car garages. The rear of the house has views for at least two-thirds of a mile beyond the pond over green space, some of it Lake Forest municipal parkland and some of it in Lake County’s 600-acre Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve.
